Ipanema: "And When She Goes Walking... She Takes Her Boogie Board"

Didn't get this posted with last month's Virtual Paintout in Rio de Janeiro. I just loved this lady's proud carriage. The surf was just perfect as well as the piece of land jutting out into it.
I added the other persons for added interest. You see the boogie board lady is interested in what she is passing also.
And those sidewalks are spectacular.
Technique Tip: 3 (odd number) groups with person(s) are included to make good composition. None are in exact center. Notice the negative space between any of the three. Not equal. Also there is enough space in front of the woman to allow her to continue the energy of her walking and swinging her arm in this scene which also keeps the viewer's eyes in the scene. It is midday. You can tell by the shadows so immediately under each person and the highlights bouncing off the tops of all horizontal planes.

  1. Ruth...it is so good that you point these tips out to your readers - these rules are so important for good composition.
I love the blues in this painting.
